Honesty

They say you can see true honesty. From the time we cry out for milk and it gets us attention we learn that we can use the same oral queue to receive either liquid nourishment that is food for life or we can fain hunger and receive an even more rewarding gift, the gift of attention and love. If we are not hungry but we cry out for attention are we being honest or are we attempting to manipulate our environment for what we really need and desire in life. Remember it has been proven by science that we can get all the food we want and still not thrive as a human being. Are we truly trying to deceive when we cry out for attention when our other needs are not immediately necessary to us?

I contend that love and attention are of such a higher need in our lives from the time of birth that you cannot really call a cry for attention and love a false cry or a lie. It is the burden of the hearer to realize that even as adults we still have this intrinsic and all encompassing need for love and attention. Is asking for attention of love in any way really a deception or a lie or a manipulation of ones environment or is it an honest cry for help?

Most of us by the time we have become adults have learned more acceptable and efficient ways of meeting our attention and love needs but some of us who for whatever reason have been thwarted in this aspect of our lives seem to be using deception and subterfuge to get what we really need in life.

Jesus the Christ, the Great Teacher, truly recognized this when He gave compassionately to average and ordinary people who most would have ignored. He also showed his true knowledge of what love truly is by having compassion on persons caught in grievous sins and dire straights. Why He even obeyed possessors of demons and cast the demons out of them and sent the former possessed ones back to their own people whole again so that they would be accepted again amongst them. He paid the ultimate price when the crowd cried out for his life and He gave it up freely as they asked, actually in ignorance, for the very thing, the only thing, that could save them and our lives. By doing this He saved them from what appeared to be an ignorant and hateful cry of dishonesty that became the truly honest cry for mercy and love and attention when he replied to their request on the cross, FORGIVE THEM FOR THEY KNOW NOT WHAT THEY DO!

Maybe some of us in this modern world are just like that crowd and just don’t know how to come into contact with the love and attention that we need. I tell you now The Way is straight and The Way is true, He is the Truth and Life and the light of men. He once said to another crowd, Come Unto Me All Ye That Labor And Are Heavy Laden And I Will Give You Rest and maybe a little love and attention, too.

The End
