“Teacher, how say you on this matter?”
“What I say as a man is irrelevant, but what the Father says through me is all encompassing.” And so Jesus went into a great discourse in the field of Salmoni, that warm day in A.D. 31 and many of the people were amazed at His teaching, for though He gave all glory to the Father in heaven, He spoke as one with all authority Himself.
As the day swiftly passed many of the people debated among themselves as to whether this man of Galilee, was a prophet come back from the dead or wise beyond his years, or could it be, yes maybe He truly is the Messiah, the Christ of God, who will lead us back to glory. After all wasn’t His very cousin, John who Baptized also with water, proclaiming repentance for a new king and a new kingdom were at hand and this very man, Jesus was saying the same thing, but was not pointing to another, but it seems that He was referring to Himself.
And that band of followers of his, what a rag tag group of men, Fisherman, and laborers and common men and even a tax collector among them, how could they be the entourage for a great king. Yet they listened on intently and soon it was nearing nightfall. His followers suggested quite strongly to Jesus to disperse the crowd before dark as it might become dangerous with so many hungry people in one place after dark. But Jesus, knowing that the people were hungry, called a little boy over and asked him to gather what provisions he could from the people in the front row and the followers came to the boy and found that he had 2 loaves and 5 fishes and Judas who had the bag, scoffed at Jesus and said, now I guess He will send me into town to buy food with all of this precious money I have managed to squirrel away and feed these wretched people.
Not so, as Jesus took the food and blessed it and all were fed that night and many baskets of extra pieces of food were gathered by the followers of Jesus. Some in the crowd marveled at this and were even more impressed with His teaching that day.
That night Jesus slipped away from the crowds as they departed and left His followers behind, and as was His custom, He went to a deserted area on a mountain slope and began to pray. “My Father, in heaven, be with me and help me to stay on course and to live the life We planned from the beginning so that none should perish and that all may come to repentance, and Dear Lord, my Father, give me the courage to win the battle over satan and the grave and encourage me to be a positive example to all that follow me. For I Am meek and lowly in heart and you will give rest unto My soul.”
As Jesus prayed a man with a demon came out of the bushes at Him and said “Jesus, I implore you cast out this demon that has taken over my mind and my body and return my soul to your service and to the sanity of normal men. For I know you are the Righteous Ruler of the Ages and the Son of God.” But before He could speak any more the demon threw him to the ground and caused him to spit on Jesus and to cry out in a loud and boisterous voice. “Jesus, your time has not come completely and I adjure you by satan, himself to allow me to torment this man until you conquer the grave, and then and only then will I release him and go my way to the Pit.”
Jesus meekly replied, “satan rules this world below for awhile longer, and you are one of his servants oh demon of hatred and meanness, but I have heard this young man’s cry for mercy and pity and I will release him this very hour, but so be it as you have asked, I will not cast you down to the Pit at this time, but I will mute your powers over this man and he will walk with you still possessing his body but his true nature and Spirit will reign supreme and by my very power, he will cast you and many other demons out at the right time and you all shall be cast down into the Pit for eternity.” So the man walked away as if whole again, yet the demon was still in him and only he and Jesus knew this and this man came and followed Jesus back to the other followers and became a pillar of the church when it was established and cast out that demon from among himself and cast out many demons at the proper time.
Many other times did the Great Teacher, preach and teach the multitudes and there were other times that He cast out demons and the one with the demon was there by His side encouraging Him until the end when even he fled in disbelief and fear when Jesus was arrested and taken to trial. Now no one knows this man’s name and the official records of the life of Jesus do not record this event, but you know a little birdie told me so. Maybe it was a dove?
