What He May Have Seen That Day.

A group of young children were playing as children do. First one of them said, “Let’s play jump” and jumped up high in the air and giggled. After she came down the other five children all jumped up at once and chirped at the top of their leap and then came back down to the ground. This went on for a few minutes and then another one of them said “No more jump for now, now we will play, “Run!” So they all started to run and jump and giggle and sing. They ran in circles and then one of them led them for a while and then another and another until they all had a turn leading. As each one led each one added a new twist to the game. After all of them had a turn leading they fell to the ground in a big heap and giggled and giggled.
A strong man with a compassionate smile on his face and broad bright eyes who had been watching the children came up to them and said,
“Children, what are you doing today?”
In unison they replied, “We are playing our games.”
“And who decides what games to play?” He asked.
“Why we just all decide at the same time,” they said innocently.
“How do you decide if someone disagrees?”
“Why sir, we’re kids, we just work it out and play on.”
“But what if you can’t agree?” He asked skeptically.
Then the biggest one said, “Well, if we disagree, we just pick a leader and follow a leader.”
“Well, how do you pick a leader?”
The young child who had taken on the role of the speaker for the group, said to the man, “Why that’s very simple, sir, whoever comes up with the best game for the moment becomes the leader until we get tired of that game and then of course someone else becomes the leader and does the same!”
Then, the man turned to the crowd that had gathered around, “Unless you become like this group of young children, you shall not enter my kingdom.”
